AMITY
Amity is our own mentoring sorority for girls in grades 7-12. Every year, each girl who pays her dues($20.00 per year), receives a T-shirt, and is able to participate in several yearly events, such as an ice cream social, a pumpkin painting party, a Christmas celebration, a Valentine's luncheon, and pool party/BBQ at year-end. AMITY sponsors activities for the lower school, such at Sock Hops and movie nights. They also believe in giving to the community and volunteer for Kitty Askins, the Soup Kitchen, Project Prom Dress, Hurricane Katrina Relief, Breast Cancer research and the Department of Social Services. AMITY girls believe in friendship and respect for others. Each member is paired with an older or younger "sister" who will pledge to be there to advise and cheer her sister on in good times and bad.
Amity is a sorority of fun, fellowship and compassion for others. AMITY was founded at WCDS and is proud of the fact that we will be taking the AMITY program to the NCAIS conference this year as an example of programs which foster positive relationships within the school family and among girls in particular.
