Dear Parents:

A very happy and prosperous 2010 to you all!  As our region enjoys (?!) a record cold spell, things at school have already begun for the new year and the new semester.  This Friday our teachers will gather at school to continue training on our Promethean Boards.  We are thrilled to have this new technology and I hope you will come in and take a look at your child’s classroom in the coming weeks.  As we learn to use this new technology, our students will benefit greatly from this enhanced learning tool.

PLEASE HELP!  We need EVERYONE to participate beginning TODAY!  Please go to as many US Cellular stores as you can and collect “Calling all Communities” cards.  Anyone over the age of 18 can go into the store and simply ask for a “Calling all Communities” card.  You can vote once a day on the website, or collect as many cards as you can and bring them to school any morning this week.  As you may have seen in the newspaper, we were sitting in 45th place nationally last Friday.  We have been told that less than 700 votes separated us from the top vote-getter school in the country…we only need to be in the top ten.  PLEASE help us win the $100,000 prize.  Our plans for the money are to upgrade our computer infrastructure, purchase two new 20-node portable computer labs, and augment funding for faculty professional development.

US Cellular’s CALLING ALL COMMUNITIES contest ends Friday, 15 January… ONLY TEN DAYS FROM NOW.  If each of our 173 families will get three cards each a day starting today, and simply hand those cards to Mr. Snoddy in the office, our victory will be assured.  It’s really just that simple.

• Spence Avenue in Cobblestone Plaza across from the Burger King

• Spence Avenue next to Mitchell Eye Center, across from French Cleaners

• Wayne Memorial Drive in Georgetown Centre, across from Howell Funeral

• Pikeville in the Andy’s shopping center

• Other stores are located in Mount Olive and Wilson
