Dear Parents:
Happy Autumn! Isn’t it a pleasure to walk outside without the fear of immediate heat exhaustion? Now if it would just rain a while….
Thank you for all of your efforts with our Fundraising. With the receipts of the Charger Cards and the Sally Foster sales (please get those in if you haven’t already!) we are approaching the 30% mark of our annual goal. Our last scheduled fundraising project is the triennial Auction. Ticket sales for the Auction have begun; please consider purchasing a ticket from your student’s class. This year’s event will be fun and will include a full dinner for two as well as dancing after the Auction. After you have purchased a ticket, you will receive a catalogue of items to consider bidding upon. There is a nice array of items, and with the silent auction in tandem with the live auction, you might just be able to finish your Christmas shopping in a fun and painless way!
The first quarter of the school year ends this Friday, 5th October. Report cards for the Lower School will be distributed on Thursday, 11th October, and Upper School (grades 7-12) reports cards will be mailed home on Tuesday, 9th October. Upper School parent-teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, 11 October from 4- 6.40PM in fifteen minute increments, and again on Friday, 12 October from 9.00AM- 12.40PM. If you would like a conference with one, some, or all of your student’s teachers, please call the office (736.1045) to schedule your appointment requests. We will make every attempt to sequence the appointments, but please know that we may not be able to accommodate your appointment times one after the other. Please note that Mrs. García, Mr. Snoddy and I will not be available for conferences. Mr. Snoddy and I will be conducting the college visitation trip, and Mrs. García will be off to México to arrange for an exciting new summer opportunity… more details will follow when it becomes a reality. Please schedule a time before or after school to meet with one of the three of us. Pre School and Lower School parents will be contacted by the respective classroom teacher to confirm an appointment for parent-teacher conferences. After School care will be offered on Thursday as usual. Friday no classes will be held for any students and, subsequently, there will be no After School care.
Mrs. Smith and Miss B. are gearing up for the annual Book Fair from 16-26 October. Look for more details coming from our Library soon.
Frosh, sophomores, and juniors will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday, 17 October. Please bring in $20 for the test to Mrs. Malpass at your earliest convenience. Seventh and eighth graders will meet regularly at 8AM for a full day. Grades 9,10, and 11 will take the PSAT all morning. Seniors will have the morning off, but they will report for school at 12.00 Noon.
Our school will be the host for our conference volleyball tournament later this month. Come and see our girls in the CPIC Volleyball Championship on Friday, 19 October. Because of the tournament that afternoon, there will be no physical education classes for the Lower school.
Mark your calendar for our Halloween Carnival. Our gymnasium will be transformed for the event on Monday evening, 29th October from 5-8PM. The annual “Spook Parade” down the main building’s concourse—and starring the Pre School and Lower School students—will take place on Halloween Day, 31 October at 9AM.
Best wishes for a pleasant (and cool) Autumn,
Todd
