AUGUST/SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER, 2008

                

Dear Parents,
          Welcome to our preschool!  We’re so glad that you have chosen Wayne Country Day, and we will try our best to make this a wonderful experience for your child.
          The next month and a half will be spent in getting to know each other and learning the class rules and expectations.  Our main thrust at this age is to encourage appropriate socialization.  The children need to learn how to share, take turns, stay in their places at specific times, and be kind to others.  The thematic unit for these two months is All about Bugs (and Other Stuff)!  We will explore the wonderful world of insects (and frogs and snakes and mice, etc.) with your children.  We will also introduce the color blue, the shape square, and the numbers 0 and 1, and the community helper Police Officer.
          “Show and Tell” will begin this week.  Please limit your child to only one item to share with everyone.  NO WEAPONS OF ANY SORT MAY BE SHOWN.  The kids who come 3 days a week (M/W/F) will have Show and Tell on Wednesdays.  All other children (those who come 5 days and 2 days) will have Show and Tell on Tuesdays.  
          Please keep snacks limited to one or two items with a juice, milk, or water.  Small snacks are better since we have only around 20-25 minutes to eat. 
          Everyone should have received a red Student Handbook/Directory.  If you did not get one, ask the office for a copy.  Please check this for accuracy and give Cindy any corrections.  Thanks!

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:
Monday, Sept. 1= NO SCHOOL!  Labor Day Holiday.
Monday, Sept. 8= Grandparent’s Day celebrated at WCDS.
