Week of April 2 Athletic News

Not a lot going on this week as we are out of school on Monday and Tuesday. The varsity baseball team will be in action on Monday and Tuesday in the Golden Leaf Baseball Tournament and then at North Raleigh Christian on Thursday. The soccer team will be hosting Oakwood on Thursday at 4:30. Wayne County Reads Mystery Contest Winners

Wayne Country Day School is proud and excited to announce that our very own Nick C. won 1st place and Leslie L. won 3rd place in the 9-12 category of the Mystery Writing Contest sponsored by the Wayne County Public Library! In addition, we also had a winner in the 6-8 category. Congratulations to Thad M. for taking home 2nd place! For this contest, students from all over the county, from all grade levels, could submit an original short mystery of no more than 500 words. You can view the winning stories below. Science Quest Summer Camp

Looking for an exciting, hands-on summer camp for your rising K-6 students? Science Quest has you covered! Spring Research Symposium 2018

Researching, Defining, Analyzing, Evaluating, Interviewing, Designing, Synthesizing... The Spring Research Symposium: A computer program randomly assigned each AP Language and Composition student a broad research topic. After using the processes listed above, each student presented his/her arguments to three judges and to the public on 24”x36” foam boards. CONGRATULATIONS to all the students and especially to the winners: 2nd place, Katherine E., presented her argument on “Will the Future of the Reefs Be Brief?” 1st place, Jacob B., presented his argument on “From Atari to Zelda”

Week of March 26 Athletic News

We have a lot going on this week as we are getting ready to head into Easter Break. Every team will be very busy this week as it is a short week of school. We will have home athletic events on Monday and Tuesday of this week. The varsity baseball team will start a Easter Tournament in Wilson on Saturday then running into Monday and Tuesday of the following week. WCDS's "Outstanding" Key Club

From March 16-18, the WCDS Key Club traveled to the annual convention called DCON (District Convention) in Durham, NC. We brought ten club members and two of them competed to be in the talent show on Saturday. Out of the more than sixty clubs that make up the Carolinas District of Key Club (including North and South Carolina), we were one of five clubs to receive the “Outstanding Club Award,” which is awarded based on how much we’ve accomplished throughout the school year. We also placed third in the video contest. We had a great time, learned a lot, and made new friends. We plan to continue attending DCON and trying to win more awards in the upcoming years.

We have a lot of things going on this week. We will have home contest on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of this week. Soccer and Baseball pictures will take place on Thursday and golf will have pictures on Friday at school. Pi Day Celebration!

Grades 1-3 celebrated Pi Day! We decorated the hall with the first 47 digits of pi, designed bookmarks, and further explored the number. We wrote acrostic poems, looked for facts and opinions, and made words from the letters I LOVE PI DAY. The culminating event was singing songs about Pi and making Pi Day bracelets. Learning is fun at WCDS!

Week of March 12 Athletic News

The winter sports awards ceremony will NOT take place on Sunday March 11. We are going to reschedule for another date. We are scheduled for pictures all this week for our spring sports team. Both baseball teams along with soccer will have pictures on Monday. Tennis and golf will have pictures on Tuesday and track on Thursday. If it rains on a certain day, we will cancel the pictures on that particular day and reschedule them. We have a busy week for Charger Athletics. Senior Parent Meeting CANCELLED
