ELPS Class Wax Museum

In a lighthearted send-off to the impending graduates of the Class of 2017, Mr. Cook’s ELPS (Civics & Current Events) class hosted a Wax Museum event on April 27. Students assumed the personae of figures (of their choice) who have had a significant impact on recent American politics and society. Unlike some other Wax Museum projects, this one was wholly interactive (more “Night at the Museum” than “Day at the Museum” . . . like “Westworld” without the danger [although we did have Congressman Anthony Wiener, a.k.a. “Carlos Danger”]).

Fun was had by participants and guests alike, as museum visitors had the chance to interact with “Team Trump” (Ivanka Trump, Kellyanne Conway, Steve Bannon, Sarah Palin); familiar Republicans George W. Bush and Pat McCrory; the 1990s White House with Bill Clinton and intern Monica Lewinski; groundbreaking and influential entertainers Johnny Cash, Angelina Jolie, John Legend, and Beyonce; and, at the center of everybody’s attention (and of the physical space), North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un.

Each character had prepared monologues and detailed displays, immersing visitors in this moderately irreverent tribute to American society & politics. On their penultimate day of classes at WCDS, smiles were abundant for the Class of 2017.
