The English Department of WCDS will be offering three one-session annotation seminars to assist new and returning students with developing valuable annotation skills. During these seminars, students will be shown several different annotation methods. They will also receive an annotation guide they can take with them.
All English classes require students to annotate their Summer Reading novel(s); however, it is essential that students are knowledgeable of the cross-curricular value of close reading strategies which will help them effectively approach the variety of complex texts they will undoubtedly encounter in college.
It is highly recommended that students who are new to WCDS this year attend at least one of the sessions. Attending students do not need to formally sign up, however students are expected to bring their summer reading novel(s) with them if they wish to receive direct assistance.
The seminars will be held Wednesday, August 30 through Friday, September 1 from 3:10 - 3:40 in Mrs. Whaley’s room (306). Interested students only need to attend one of the three days, but are welcome to come back to subsequent sessions for further clarification.
If you or your student have any questions, you are welcome to email me or Mrs. Whaley.
