Celebrating the Solar Eclipse at WCDS
WCDS celebrated the solar eclipse with GUSTO! Grades 6-12 gathered in the athletic fields to experience this historic event, enjoy lots of delicious snacks, and just have FUN!
In the days that preceded the eclipse, many classes engaged in eclipse-related studies and activities. For example, English 10 Composition students studied the parts of Aristotle’s rhetorical appeal (ethos, pathos, and logos). They investigated more than fifteen sources of information about solar eclipses and identified each source for its rhetorical appeal. In addition to scientific and historic information, students investigated myths, superstitions, art, and music related to solar eclipses.
