With the wrath of Hurricane Irma bearing down on the Caribbean islands aiming for our mainland, I wanted to take the opportunity to review our protocol for school closure.
Please do not follow the Wayne County Public Schools decisions and assume they are ours. Only in a case where it is clear that a major event or winter storm is a threat to safety throughout the greater Goldsboro area, we will cancel school.
That said, I also realize that we have students coming from a wide geographic area. What is safe in the northern part of the county may not be so in Duplin county, for example. Always use your discretion as to what is appropriate and safe in YOUR area. (Also know that we do not count tardiness for days when inclement weather is occurring.) Use your best judgment and, if you decide that it is not appropriate for your child or children to come to school, please just call us and let us know.
Always check our website for the most up-to-date information about school closure. (You will not see our school’s name scrolling across any television chyron.) We will also post the information on our school’s Facebook page.
