Hurray!!! Wayne Country Day School’s 5th grade class just got introduced to their new Chromebooks! While these students are clearly excited to get their hands on the new devices, they most likely do not understand today how access to these important tools will positively affect their academic achievements tomorrow. They do not yet know the power of digital exploration and online, real-time, collaboration with their classmates and teachers. They do not yet know that, with access to the Chromebooks, the walls of their classroom(s) just disappeared. But, they will!
WCDS is committed to providing its students with advanced technologies at all junctures, from grades 3K through 12. In an initiative that began in the 2016/17 academic year with the 5th and 6th grade classes, WCDS launched the Chromebook program to ensure that opportunities for academic achievement via digital learning would be made available to Lower School students beginning in 5th grade. The Chromebooks, coupled with the full arsenal of Google applications afforded us as an official Google school, will certainly provide these students with the tools they need to be successful academics now and in the future, as well as the critical skills needed to be informed and responsible citizens in the digital/cyber world that will continue to define life in the 21st Century.
This is just one of the many reasons why WCDS is an extraordinary school! Happy digital learning, class of 2025!
