It's fire prevention month and WCDS invited the Goldsboro Fire Department to come talk to the 3K-2 graders about fire safety. We learned about 911, stop-drop-roll, the importance of knowing your address, smoke detectors, fire drills and much more. We watched one of the firefighters dress out in his gear. He constantly reassured the younger children that it was still him under the helmet and oxygen mask. This was an important demonstration to show that the gear is for protection and not to scare anyone. There were NO TEARS this year!!!! The highlight of the visit was touring the fire truck with the flashing emergency lights and loud sirens. Everyone became an honorary firefighter as they donned their red fire helmets!
Take this month to prepare a fire exit plan with your family, check smoke detectors, and make sure everyone knows their address!
Thank you, Goldsboro Firefighters, for making us feel safe!
