Wayne County Reads Mystery Contest Winners

March 28, 2018

Wayne Country Day School is proud and excited to announce that our very own Nick C. won 1st place and Leslie L. won 3rd place in the 9-12 category of the Mystery Writing Contest sponsored by the Wayne County Public Library! In addition, we also had a winner in the 6-8 category. Congratulations to Thad M. for taking home 2nd place!

For this contest, students from all over the county, from all grade levels, could submit an original short mystery of no more than 500 words. You can view the winning stories below.

Every year, the Wayne County Public Library hosts Wayne County Reads. This year's selection was The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The members of our own book club, sponsored by Mrs. Whaley and Mrs. Seymour, have been engaging in their own discussions of this famous and intriguing novel.

Congratulations to all three of our contest winners and a special thanks to everyone who submitted their mystery! The judges said the deliberation was fierce and the final decisions were certainly not easy to make. Way to show all of Wayne County just how talented and skilled WCDS's students are!

"Long Day in Philly" by Nick C.

"Pitter Patter" by Leslie L.

"The Mystery of the Beaufort Attack Fish" by Thad M.
