16 September 2018
Whew! We dodged a major bullet! While Florence most certainly was a hurricane, I thank my lucky stars that she was not the intensity that I thought she was going to be. I hope all of you weathered the storm well, and that life is beginning to return to normal.
I am happy to report that the school suffered no significant damage. There were several west-facing classrooms that were flooded, as well as a few classrooms in the new high school wing, but yesterday Coach Taylor, Mr. Snoddy and I played custodians and cleaned up the water. Dayton Meadows from High Standard Cleaning is here today, finishing up the wet/dry vacuuming. Chris Gray will be here tomorrow to clear the considerable debris that litters the campus. Electricity has been fully restored to the school, and I am pleased to inform you that we will resume classes on Tuesday, 18 September.
As always, please decide for yourself whether the conditions around you are safe for travel to school. If you decide they are not, just give us a call and let us know. Please do not take any risks with your safety. As we return to our routine, we will not be counting absences or tardiness this week.
Much relieved and thankful, Todd
