The Upper School is committed to nurturing and challenging its students in a safe, diverse environment. Our goal is to stretch them without stressing them. We aim to give them the opportunities to explore and develop their passions while they learn the critical thinking, problem solving and life skills needed to be successful in college and the world beyond. Our college preparatory curriculum in the Upper School includes courses in English, mathematics, sciences, social studies, modern language, the arts, computer science, and physical education. The student-centered course planning is designed to continue to grow your student's strengths, while building their skills and confidence in areas of weakness. We offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Art History, English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Spanish, Psychology, United States History, World History, European History, Computer Science Principles and Computer Science A, Calculus AB and BC, Biology, Physics, and Environmental Science. Wayne Country Day School is also proud to be approved to offer the AP Capstone program which consists of AP Seminar and AP Research Methods.
WCDS also offers a variety of elective courses based on student interests, including but not limited to: World War II Literature, Banned Books, 3D Engineering and Design, Anatomy, Exercise Science and Kinesiology, Astronomy, Geology, Painting, History of International Film, Political Parties: Past and Present, Mythology, and The History of Pop Culture.
